NorCal RV Roof was born somewhere between a ripped-off rubber roof and a whole lotta “What the heck were they thinking?”

It all started when my sister’s RV roof peeled back on the freeway like a sardine can in a hurricane. One minute she’s cruisin’ down I-5, the next she’s white-knuckling it while 30 feet of factory-grade rubber flaps in the wind louder than a politician in an election year.

She called me panicked. I showed up curious. What I found was a “roof” flimsier than a paper plate in a rainstorm—sealed with caulk that had more cracks than a dry lakebed.

EPDM, TPO, duct tape, a prayer—whatever the factory was using, it wasn’t made to last.

So I did what any slightly obsessed, self-respecting problem-solver does: I dug in. Deeper than a tick on a hound. And what I found under the hood of the RV roofing world? Let’s just say… it ain’t pretty.
